Today, I want to tell you about a destination I've very interested in experiencing and one that I've only heard great things about from those who have been there: the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi. If you're an animal lover like me, you're in for a treat!

First things first: if you're coming from Canada, you'll want to fly into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. From there, it's just a short drive to the Giraffe Manor. I recommend staying at least 3-4 nights to make the most of your visit.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about the Giraffe Manor. This unique hotel is set on 140 acres of indigenous forest, and it's home to a herd of resident Rothschild's giraffe who visit the property throughout the day. You can even feed them from your bedroom window or at breakfast on the terrace!

The property itself is a 1930s colonial-style mansion that has been beautifully restored. The rooms are luxurious and spacious, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. You'll feel like royalty during your stay.

But of course, the real highlight of any visit to the Giraffe Manor is the opportunity to interact with the giraffes. These gentle giants are incredibly curious and friendly, and they love to stick their heads through the windows to say hello.

In addition to the giraffes, there are plenty of other animals to see in Nairobi. The Nairobi National Park is just a short drive away, and it's home to lions, cheetahs, zebras, and more. I recommend taking a guided safari through the park to get up close and personal with these amazing animals.

If you have the time, I also recommend taking a trip to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, which is about a 6-hour drive from Nairobi. This reserve is famous for its annual wildebeest migration, which takes place from July to October. It's truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to witness these massive herds of animals moving across the plains.

Another must-visit destination in the area is the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which is a sanctuary for orphaned elephants and rhinos. You can visit the sanctuary and even "adopt" an elephant to support their care.

Overall, I recommend allowing at least a week for your trip to Nairobi and the surrounding areas. This will give you plenty o  time to explore the Giraffe Manor, go on safari, and visit other attractions in the area.
