The best travel experiences are those created through dedication to and insider knowledge of a destination. When it comes to Canada, perhaps no one does it better than Adventure Canada. While this esteemed company offers trips all over the world, from the Arctic to Antarctica, Scotland to Costa Rica, their added value comes from being a Canadian operator that has been sustainably exploring its own country for 35 years.

Awhile back, Adventure Canada released an interview with MJ Swan, Director of Business Development at Adventure Canada, illuminating the mission and values of the company. Take a look. In the interview, MJ refers to his three favorite trips, including the Newfoundland Circumnavigation in Canada. Let’s take a look at that voyage, as well as a couple other popular Canada trips - you’ll soon see the appeal of Adventure Canada and the benefits of traveling with such a knowledgeable operator.

Newfoundland Circumnavigation

Start your journey of curiosity in the vibrant capital of Newfoundland and Labrador: St. John’s. As you sail out of the historic port through the world-famous Narrows, snap photos of iconic Signal Hill. Look out for icebergs, whales and seabirds and the charming houses of the Battery as you set out to sea.

As you sail the northeast coast of Newfoundland, you’ll land at picturesque villages and charming  communities that rely on the sea for their livelihood. Go back in time at L’Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the only authenticated Norse settlement in North America. Viking archaeological remains here date to approximately 1000 CE.

In Red Bay, learn about Basque Whaling History that started here in the 1500s, and created what would be North America's first export industry. See artifacts from the whaling ship San Juan that was lost in a storm in 1565 and visit nearby Saddle Island.

Hike through Gros Morne National Park and Woody Point for dramatic views of Bonne Bay. Witness the nearly 2,000-foot Tablelands, a vast plateau of exposed mantle.

Continue sailing along the southern coastline, dotted with bays, coves and remote communities, a land of outstanding geology, gorgeous botanical life and plentiful bird and wildlife. Explore by Zodiac and on land to make the most of it all.

Meet the local leaders of the First Nations community of Miawpukek on the Conne River and see how their culture has successfully bridged traditional knowledge and contemporary practice.

Cap off a spectacular voyage in colorful Saint-Pierre, with its winding streets lined with European-style shops and cafes
